Workshops & events
Wifie members are able to participate at whatever level that they feel comfortable with and are always welcome to come along to any of the events that we organise. These include some informal social events such as a get together around Christmas or a summer picnic as well as visits to galleries, photography workshops and when preparing for exhibitions, some theme based workshops and meetings.
Wifie members are supported and encouraged to share skills and knowledge amongst themselves so some of the workshops are very informal. Other workshops are organised to help members extend their skills and understanding so that they can create the images that they want for an exhibition or to develop new skills or a greater technical understanding for their everyday photographic expertise.
Our projects are mostly based on a theme that is chosen either by members, links into a national theme or following a visit to an exhibition.

WORKSHOPS
Most of the workshops we organise are focused on digital camera settings and functions but occasionally we have done some workshops on topics that members are interested in exploring. This has included darkroom sessions and the use of photo editing software.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Wifie organises different events and many of these will include an opportunity to practice camera skills and the exploration of themes or ideas to build on our knowledge and practice. Some of these outings have been related to previous exhibitions, the visits to Samye Ling and Inchcolm for example or just part of our regular Annual General Meeting or a visit somewhere to have a picnic. and take photos.
INSPIRED BY EXHIBITIONS
As well as workshops and social events Wifie members are encouraged to visit photography exhibitions to see the work of other artists. These exhibitions are always interesting and can generate great conversations and inspiration. Following an exhibition visit members are invited to explore the photographic genre, themes or concepts that have been presented by these exhibitions and discussions and then create their own work in response.
ON LINE ASSIGNMENTS
As Wifie members were no longer able to meet up due to COVID-19 we decided to send out regular assignments via email and for Wifie members to post their images on our new WhatsApp group. This has been a really great addition to what members can access through their involvement with Wifie and one that we should keep doing as part of our dynamic collective.
