Shooting into the light is not an approach to photography that you might take everyday but it can give amazing results. Also referred to as 'Contre jour lighting', which I feel describes it perfectly. You can use the light effectively shooting this way but you have to be careful with your exposure and angle of light to camera. You can also use 'fill in flash' to help bring detail into your subject. However I think Wifie members have avoided this approach and gone for the effect of back light as you find it. Have a look at the different images that Wifie members have done on 'backlight'.
