Portrait Workshop with Alicia Bruce
Wifie members were introduced to work of German photographer August Sander who was a portrait photographer in the early 20th century. His photographs showed an enormous variety of ordinary people in their every day environments, from beggars and farmers to nazi officials. Alicia Bruce guided us on this workshop providing us with information and ideas as we studied the techniques adopted by August Sander, his life and what we can learn from his work.
We then looked at some digital photography techniques and how to get the best settings to create the type of image you want. Putting these techniques into practice we took portraits of each other around the grounds of the dean gallery.
