Patterns

Assignment 28. Patterns.
Patterns are all around us so this assignment was suggested as a way to explore creatively the key elements such as  repetition, shape and colour that create patterns and lend themselves to interesting and sometimes abstract imagery. Patterns can be found in nature or constructed within buildings and objects and as an assignment it isn't only about photographing the obvious pattern but exploring patterns within the subject you are looking at. This can be an exciting and fun assignment to set yourself as a challenge and it is important to 'get your eye' in to find the repetition, shapes and / or colour in areas that might not be obvious when first exploring this theme.

Mary, Molly and Yvonne have illustrated the strength and shapes that can be found within buildings and the patterns that are created.
I love how Maddy has explored this theme. In these very dynamic images capturing  patterns we also have  colour and shape, both playing a significant role in the overall image.
Nature always provides an abundance of very different patterns and here Lorraine, Debs and Margaret Munro have come up with some stunning photos.
Here we have lovely examples of patterns where Ursula and Debs have looked into the detail of structures and below, Maddy has explored the detail in fabrics.
Here's a final selection of different patterns, some found outside and others inside.
