International Women's Day
Exhibition 2026
This year Wifie members exhibited their photographs at Ocean Terminal. There were five members exhibiting and some of them for the first time with Wifie. The exhibition, first one for a long time was a great success.
The theme for IWD 2026 was 'Give to Gain'. We all felt that this was a very challenging theme to illustrate through photography so decided as always that each member should approach it in their own way. Exploring what they are passionate about and how this might relate to the process of 'giving' and 'gaining'.
Give Visibility: Highlight women’s achievements in your community.
Give Knowledge: Mentor or share expertise.
Give Resources: Support women-owned businesses.
Give Action: Participate in local or virtual events to push for equality

Sunsets
Sunsets are one of the glories of nature. I have spent many hours waiting for the sun to set and more feeling awe-inspired by the beauty of the scene and the way it changes from minute to minute. It is a difficult choice whether just to look or also take photographs. A balance is needed. Digital photography allows you to take many photographs recording the changing light.
According to Celtic mythology, Mor is the goddess of the setting sun, marking the transition into night and the world of sleep, where our souls are refreshed and nourished before returning to the light. The sun is represented as female and a life-giving, nurturing force. We gain so much from the sun: warmth and light to help our crops grow; Vitamin C to keep us healthy; benefits to our mental wellbeing; pleasure when we are on holiday. We live in a critical time and the balance of what we gain from the sun is shifting due to environmental changes. It is up to us to give back by caring for our planet to ensure that we continue to gain from the sun, not suffer.

A blip for each season
I’m a blipper – I belong to Blipfoto (blipfoto.com), an online community where members from all around the world have a daily photo journal, uploading a photo taken that day, usually with a bit of text, and commenting on each other’s photos and giving star – or even heart – ratings. We all give our photos and share our comments to gain from the community. The philosophy of Blipfoto is “Be excellent to each other” and there are no trolls there. Photography can sometimes feel as though it’s dominated by men, but Blipfoto is very much a community with equality at its core.
I’ve been a blipper for fourteen and a half years (that’s over 5,300 entries) and I can honestly say that it’s changed my life – I spend more time outside of myself looking around, taking loads of lousy photos, trying to get a half-decent one. I often think that however little else I've achieved in a day, at least I've taken a blip.
For this exhibition I’ve chosen a blip for each season:
Magnolia for spring
A rose for summer
Poppy seed heads for autumn
Witch hazel for winter

Infinite Opportunities
My view of this theme is the power of reciprocity and support ~ collaboration.
Giving can mean an intentional multiplication through that collaboration. By working together, we enhance the original idea. Collaboration creates more opportunities for growth and development for all beings to enhance the world we live in. I have used multiple exposure photography to represent this concept.
Multiple exposure photography offers infinite opportunities for creative expression. Two or more images come together (in camera or using post processing software) to create a multiplied creative expression, an enhancement of the original image.
No AI was used in the creation of these images.

My love of trees
This year the theme for International Women’s Day is about giving, how the power of giving equates to a world where we all gain. So, for the WIFIE exhibition I have chosen to celebrate the giving nature of trees.
I love trees and feel passionate about the importance that they have within cities, the countryside and across the world. Trees support our health and well-being, provide oxygen and purify the air we breathe. Trees provide essential habitats for wildlife as well as materials for shelter, food and fuel for people across the world.
Take a walk in a forest to restore yourself, find calmness and boost your immune system. Look after the trees around you so that they can continue looking after the world that we live in.

Sisterhood
This year the theme for International Women’s Day is “Give to Gain”. So, for the WIFIE exhibition I have chosen to celebrate the “Giving and Gain” I have experienced with my Sisterhood-a circle of wonderful people.
The collection of photographs represent a memory or an image to remember a special friend or friendship group. Each image is a moment or a place experienced whilst being together.
For the exhibition at Ocean Terminal this installation was woven with gold thread framing the collage. This element is a respectful nod to the power of ancient witchcraft magic where threads were used to bind or weave to bind or protect. The “threads of life” that link us to each other.
Within witchcraft, Gold corresponds to success, happiness and growth.
Blessings to my sisterhood and to the “sisterhood” across the world.

Waterlines
Inkjet printed on watercolour paper, unedited.
Are they what they seem?
Is the camera lying?
These images look like paintings – in fact, as a painter, I wished I'd painted them, but they're actually photographs that combine my 2 passions – art and photography.
The art, in this case, has been painted by the sea – on the keel of a boat – then framed and captured by my eye and the camera.
