Abstract Photography

 Assignment 27. Abstract Photography
This assignment invited members to create a set of abstract images using whichever technique they felt worked for them or their subject matter.  Abstract photography is about emphasizing the visual character of the image such as lines, shapes or patterns or evoking an emotion or imagination through the use of techniques like Intentional Camera Movement  (ICM) to blur the lines between the real and the imagined.

Yvonne created these stunning images through multiple exposures whilst Damiana explored Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). Using a slow shutter speed Damiana moved her camera in different directions then later blended the images together.
Another couple of examples using ICM and multiple exposure by Olga.
Intentional Camera Movement is always a popular way for creating abstract images but can be difficult to master. Here are a couple of beautiful images by Mary and some more ICM below.

Molly has captured her set of abstract images in a local timber yard concentrating on the texture found on metal and the shapes and curves of saw blades.
In this set of abstract images Belinda cleverly captured the knots found in wooden planks that highlight the lines and texture.
It looks like Maddy had fun capturing this set of lovely images in a children's playpark whilst Margaret explored things around the house to create a set of images.
I love this set of images by Lorraine as they offer a soft gentle ambiance alongside the strong lines. Perfect harmony. And finally, some more amazing abstract images from members below.
