In preparation for our latest exhibition WIFIE members have held workshops and discussion groups to explore the idea of justice, powerful women throughout history and in myth as well as the effects of violence on victims and throughout wider society. Themis is the goddess of divine law and represents both a stong female figure and justice
The exhibition coincides with the 16 Days Campaign against gender violence which begins with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and ends on Human Rights Day. The 16 Days Campaign calls for the elimination of all forms of gender violence by
- Raising awareness about gender violence
- Promoting the work of support organisations
- Linking local and international work to end violence against women
- Demonstrating solidarity of women around the world
- Creating tools to pressure governments to impliment poilcies to eliminate violence against women
